Vaccine against COVID-19: people aged 50 and over, who are well off or have a good level of education are the most likely to be in favour of the vaccine

Thanks to the participation of people monitored as part of the Specchio-COVID study19 in our online questionnaires, we were able to assess the Geneva population's perception of vaccination.
Three months after the launch of the vaccination programme in Switzerland, the results of the study, which was conducted between 17 March and 1 April 2021, show that of the 4,067 participants who completed the questionnaire, more than three-quarters are in favour of the COVID-19 vaccine. Acceptance rates were highest among people with a good level of education, a good economic situation, advanced age or chronic illness.
The study also made it possible to identify the reasons for refusal and hesitation, of which a return to one's previous life was the most frequently cited.
The same questionnaire will be sent back to participants in a few months' time to refine the results and measure changes in vaccination intentions and the reasons behind a refusal over time.
The study was conducted by thePopulation Epidemiology Unit at Primary Care Medicine Service (SMPR) of the HUG, under the direction of Professor Silvia Stringhini and Professor Idris Guessous.
